Orkney’s MSP Liam McArthur has pledged his support for Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, which celebrates the power of community.

This year, Mental Health Awareness Week runs between 12th to 18th May and is centered around the theme of community, focusing on the positive impact that close connections can have on our mental wellbeing.

Commenting, Mr McArthur said:

“Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity for everyone to play their part in raising awareness of this vital issue. Poor mental health can affect anyone which is why this week is so valuable.

“It has been proven that being part of a community is an essential component of mental wellbeing. Our connections allow us to feel secure and supported, as well as giving us a sense of belonging and purpose.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate one of the pillars of good mental health and to continue having open conversations about how we’re feeling”.
