Liam has strong ties with Orkney. He attended Sanday school and Kirkwall Grammar. Liam has worked for European Commission, as a consultant helping charities and as a Special Adviser to the Deputy First Minister, then former MP and MSP for Orkney Jim Wallace. A football enthusiast, Liam played in Orkney's inter-county team and for Scottish Universities, while captain of Edinburgh University.
