McArthur supports Breast Cancer Now's Wear It Pink campaign
Liam McArthur, Orkney's MSP, joined the UK's leading breast cancer charity Breast Cancer Now to 'Wear It Pink' in Scottish Parliament earlier this week.
Now in its 25th year, Wear It Pink has raised over £45 million since 2002. The campaign’s fundraising has gone towards funding life-saving science and life-changing support for everyone affected by breast cancer. You can learn more about how to get involved with this year's campaign here.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Breast Cancer Now is encouraging everyone in Scotland to check their breasts or chest. It could save their life.
It’s as simple as TLC:
Touch your breasts
Look for changes
Check anything unusual with your GP

Commenting, Mr McArthur said:
"Every 9 minutes, someone in the UK receives the life-changing news of a breast cancer diagnosis. But when detected early, treatment outcomes are much more likely to be successful.
"I was proud to lend my support to Breast Cancer Now's 'Wear It Pink' campaign in parliament this week, which is shining a light on the importance of early detection. These types of public awareness initiatives are deeply important, as they can save lives and improve health outcomes in the long-term.
"The campaign is fun and easy to get involved with, and the funds raised by this initiative also go a long way in furthering life-saving research and support for people living with a breast cancer diagnosis. The official Wear It Pink event is taking place on 23 October, so I'm encouraging everyone in Orkney to join in and wear their best pink that day."
