McArthur reacts to NHS Orkney CEO Laura Skaife-Knight’s move to NHS Grampian
Responding to the announcement that NHS Orkney Chief Executive, Laura Skaife Knight is to leave her post later this year to take up the role as CEO at NHS Grampian, Orkney’s MSP, Liam McArthur commented:
“In a relatively short space of time, Laura has made a significant and positive impact as CEO of NHS Orkney. At the time she took up post, reports of poor staff morale and financial difficulties were all too common. It is to her credit that she has prioritised the need to listen to patients, staff and the wider community, while not being afraid to take difficult decisions in order to put the board on a more stable financial footing.
“There are undoubtedly still big challenges ahead for NHS Orkney, but her successor will find the organisation in a better place as a result of her work over the past two years.
“On a personal level, I have enjoyed working with Laura, who has always been approachable, willing to listen and take action, while also being proactive in updating stakeholders.
“I am sorry to hear she will be leaving NHS Orkney later this year, but wish Laura well in her new role, where no doubt our paths will continue to cross”.
