McArthur says SMF report shows “very real risks” to Orkney’s economy, if more is not done

Orkney’s MSP, Liam McArthur, has called for “more to be done” to support Orkney’s economy, as a report published by the Social Market Foundation indicates that Orkney may have the second highest percentage of jobs at risk in Scotland as a result of the pandemic.

The report produced by the think tank has calculated the proportion of jobs “facing a moderate or severe impact” because of coronavirus, broken down by region.

In Orkney that figure is suggested to be 68%, which is the second highest in Scotland.

McArthur responds to second NHS Orkney data breach

Responding to the news of a second data breach by NHS Orkney in the past month, Mr McArthur said:

“After a similar data breach last month, I said it was essential the matter be fully investigated by the Information Commissioner’s Office and NHS Orkney so that lessons could be learned and urgent action taken.  Unfortunately, there has been little time for that to actually happen before this latest breach.
