In a debate in the Scottish Parliament today, Northern Isles MSPs Tavish Scott and Liam McArthur secured the support of MSPs from across the chamber and forced the Scottish Government to accept that they must honour their commitment to fair funding for internal ferry services in the Northern Isles.

Liam has strong ties with Orkney. He attended Sanday school and Kirkwall Grammar. Liam has worked for European Commission, as a consultant helping charities and as a Special Adviser to the Deputy First Minister, then former MP and MSP for Orkney Jim Wallace. A football enthusiast, Liam played in Orkney's inter-county team and for Scottish Universities, while captain of Edinburgh University. In Parliament, Liam is the Scottish Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Energy, Young People and Education. Read more
