Eion Ballantine Wins First Cap for Scotland

That the Parliament congratulates Eion Ballantine, from Orkney, on winning his first Scottish international badminton cap; understands that Eion was called up to represent the Scotland 40-45 age-group team that competed against England in the 21st Robert McCoig Trophy match in Glasgow; recognises that Eion was selected for the team following his success in the Scottish National Masters Doubles Championship in the same age group in November 2019; acknowledges that Eion partnered with Mark Mackay, from Caithness, for the match, which was eventually won overall by a strong England side; notes that Eion and Mark also took part in the Scottish International Masters Championships together, where they won matches against pairs from across the UK and Europe, before finishing as runners-up in a closely fought final; congratulates Eion on his success and great run of form, which it considers is testament to his continued hard work and determination, and hopes that this will be the first of many international caps to come.
