Orkney Film Wins Award at Scottish Short Film Festival

That the Parliament congratulates Kim Foden, Fiona Grahame, Martin Laird and James Watson, who are from Orkney, on their animated short film, A Gude Cause Maks A Strong Erm, winning the most creative/original category at the 2019 Scottish Short Film Festival in Glasgow and being described as a "breathe of fresh air" by one of the judges; understands that the film is based on the Orcadian Woman’s Suffrage Society and was inspired by the involvement of the artist, Stanley Cursiter, who designed the original banner for the society; notes that the film premiered at the Phoenix Cinema in Kirkwall on International Women’s Day and has since been shown at three different festivals around the country, and thanks the production team for creating such a popular project that focuses on an important, but largely forgotten and untold, aspect of Orkney’s history, recognising the part that Orcadian suffragists played in the campaign for all women to have the right to vote.
