70th Anniversary of Holm Sailing Club in Orkney

That the Parliament recognises the 70th anniversary of Holm Sailing Club in Orkney; notes that the Club held its first regatta in front of the village of St Marys on 20 July 1949 and, with 31 boats, was the largest entry for any regatta in Orkney for 25 years; understands that it is one of three sailing clubs based on the Orkney mainland and is open to a wide range of sailing abilities; further understands that the Club, alongside Stromness, is a snipe club, which is an internationally recognised design class that offers a high standard of competitive racing; recalls that Orkney held the UK Snipe Championships in 2013 and 2017; congratulates all members of Holm Sailing Club, particularly those who have served on the committee over the years, on their outstanding commitment and service and for making it an accessible, enjoyable and integral part of the local community, and wishes the current Commodore, Lynn Bartlett, who is the first-ever female Commodore in Orkney, and all club members many more successes over the next 70 years.
