Orkney MSP Liam McArthur has today welcomed new funding to help build a car park at the Standing Stones of Stenness.
The funding from the Scottish Government is part of a number of pilot projects aimed at the completion of urgent works ahead of the tourist season.
Commenting, Mr McArthur said:
“The Standing Stones of Stenness are a world-class tourist attraction right at the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, our World Heritage Site.
“Unfortunately, for some time now parking facilities at the site have been inadequate and created problems of accessibility.
“On that basis, I welcome this funding and look forward to progress being made so that those who want to enjoy Orkney’s unique archaeological treasures can do so.”
