McArthur encourages Orkney students to apply for SAAS

Orkney’s MSP, Liam McArthur, has encouraged students from Orkney to submit their applications for fees, bursaries or loans for higher education before June 30 2022.

Students enrolling or continuing on a college or university course in 2022-23 should apply to SAAS now to guarantee their money for the beginning of term and get off to the best possible start.  Students do not need to wait for exam results or an unconditional offer before applying.

To find out how much money and funding may be required to attend college or university, budget and funding calculators can be found at studentinformation.gov.scot.

Mr McArthur said:

"It is important for students to apply to SAAS now with the correct documentation to allow applications to progress as quickly as possible.  Students do not need to wait for exam results or an unconditional offer before applying for support which can be easily updated later.

"Applying as soon as possible is the best way of ensuring students in Orkney and across the country have funding in place for the start of the academic year."

Lauren McNamara, Interim Chief Executive of SAAS, added:

"To make the application process easier, please make sure you have the necessary paperwork ready before you apply. A full list of what you need in advance is on the SAAS website."
