Following the completion of repairs to the Pentland Firth East Cable by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) today (Tuesday), Orkney’s MSP Liam McArthur commented:
“I welcome news that the repairs to the cable have now been completed. This has taken some time, however, and while customers in Orkney have been unaffected, the same cannot be said for many local renewable energy developers, who have been unable to connect to the grid.
“As a result, some have sustained quite significant losses of income, including community-owned turbines. I am grateful to SSE for keeping local stakeholders updated over recent weeks and welcome their commitment to meet with developers in the near future to discuss the full impact of this fault on local businesses and community projects.”
