Orkney MSP Liam McArthur and Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael will host the next Orkney Digital Forum on Friday 4th of March from 1pm to 3pm at the St Magnus Centre.
The Digital Forum is a chance to hear a number of presentations covering the challenges and on-going work to improve broadband services and mobile phone coverage within the county.
The presentations will be followed by a public Q&A session which will give the public an opportunity to raise any questions or concerns.
Invited participants include senior representatives from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, British Telecom, EE and IslesSat.
Commenting, Orkney MSP Liam McArthur said:
“The urgent need for better broadband and mobile phone coverage in our islands is now recognised. While investment is being made, local people want reassurance that this will benefit all communities in Orkney. The Digital Forum has been well attended in recent years and offers a chance to discuss these issues with those taking decisions. It is open to anyone so please come along to hear about what is going on and make your views known.”
Notes to editors:
Press are welcome to come along and cover the meeting. Mr McArthur will be available for comment after the meeting.
