Alannah Moar, Scottish Emerging Artist Winner

That the Parliament congratulates Alannah Moar, who is originally from Orkney, on winning the Quaich Project’s Scottish Emerging Artist Competition and being selected to perform at the fundraising launch event at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York for the Celebration of Scottish Culture; understands that this cabaret night is a follow up to the Scottish campaign launch of the £25 million project to redevelop West Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh into an inclusive and accessible space that encourages daily use all year round, which it believes will create one of the most acclaimed city gardens in the world; acknowledges that the event in New York will be hosted by Alan Cumming and will feature performances from the musician, KT Tunstall, and the American actress, Alexandra Silber; notes that Alannah won the competition with 39% of the vote; considers that this is recognition of her artistic talent and her years of hard work and dedication to her music, and wishes Alannah the very best for her performance on the night and for the rest of her promising musical career.
