Responding to the news that the ballot on HIAL’s revised pay offer to Air Traffic Controllers will close on Wednesday 4th September, Orkney’s MSP Liam McArthur commented:
“People in Orkney will be watching anxiously for the outcome of this ballot, hoping desperately that it signals the end of this long- running dispute.
“It has already been an extremely challenging Summer for those who have suffered from the significant disruption to our lifeline air services. The effect of that disruption on patients needing to fly south for medical treatment has been a particular concern.
“It is in everyone’s interests to see the industrial action brought to an end as soon as possible. Hopefully both sides can now settle this disagreement and begin to take steps toward rebuilding relationships, providing some much-needed stability for our lifeline air services.”
